It’s not easy opening up a new store. It can definitely feel like a juggling act, especially if this is a second or third location. When you have so much on your plate, it’s easy to drop the ball.
Regardless of the type of retail store you operate, there is a common checklist of display fixtures, including clothing store fixtures and showroom display fixtures, that is beneficial across all industries.
Clothing Racks
Clothing racks come in a variety of configurations. Most retail clothing stores use 4-way racks and 2-way racks to display clothing at the front of the store. H-racks or round racks are typically used in the back of the store. Retailers will use a Z-rack in the stock room for sorting and tagging new stock.
Hangers
To hang clothes on clothing display fixtures, you will need hangers. Hangers range in style and material, from heavy duty plastic hangers, metal hangers, or stylish wooden hangers.
Mannequins
If you really want to show off an item of clothing or a complete ensemble, mannequins are great for grabbing shoppers’ attention. They come in a variety of sizes and styles, including full body, half, or with specific body parts.

You will need signs that indicate sections, departments, promotions, and calls to action. Having signs is the best way to help your shoppers navigate your store on their own.

Banners and posters are great for store events like sales, grand opening, and new items.

Having shelves is a necessity in retail stores. From displaying clothing to displaying jewelry, and accessories, shelving is versatile and comes in a variety of styles, shapes, sizes and materials.
Display Cases
Use display cases to show off expensive items or as an elegant way to display items that would normally not be placed in a display case, like a popular shoe. Display cases can also serve as a checkout area.
Countertop Displays
Use countertop displays to highlight accessories like earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and even handbags.
Mirrors
Every clothing retailer needs mirrors. Customers want to be able to try on your items to see how they will look in them. Make sure you have full-length mirrors located near clothing items and small mirrors near accessories.

Save yourself the trouble of having to individually write price tags for every single item in your store and get a pricing gun.
Bags and Packaging
When your customers complete their purchase, you will need some sort of bag to put their merchandise in. You can purchase generic shopping bags or order custom branded bags with your store’s name and logo.
Shopping Carts or Baskets
Depending on the size of your store, you will either need shopping carts or baskets to offer customers a way to carry the products they intend to buy throughout the store. If you offer large items, you may need to order shopping carts. Otherwise, shopping baskets should be fine.
